~NewYork:I started Service with Duke Energy back in **** I believe, at which time I purchased a second home in SC. While waiting for my home to sell in NY I was still living in NY. For some reason, Duke Energy could not grasp that my SC address was the service address and my NY address was the billing address. Both my husband and I called on numerous occasions and also sent a letter requesting our bills be mailed to the NY address. **In any event they never corrected it in their system and the payment was late causing Duke Energy to turn off the electric. We found out when we came down to visit and upon entering our home found no electric. We paid whatever was due at the time and that was that.**When we finally sold our house in NY and moved down for good, Duke Energy refused to provide electric until we gave them a $*** deposit, which we did. They had stated over the phone that as long as we paid our bill we would be refunded in a year. I didn't like it* it was similar to a shake down
